The Chicago Mercantile Exchange recorded yet another volatile week for soybeans, marked by corrective movements. The market shows caution in the absence of robust purchases from China, even after the trade agreement between the two countries. According to the consultancy Safras & Mercado, the Chinese have preferred soybeans from South America, which present more competitive prices. In October, soybean imports in grain by China totaled 9.48 million tons, 17.2% above the same period in 2024, when the volume was 8.09 million tons. This increase was driven by South American shipments, reflecting the trade dispute between Beijing and Washington. In the accumulated period of 2025, Chinese imports reached 95.68 million tons, an increase of 6.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China.
