(Wonju=Yonhap News) Reporter Im Bo-yeon = Chiaksan strawberries, a representative winter food in Wonju, have started their full shipment in December. Chiaksan strawberries are known for their freshness and good taste due to the large daily temperature range and short distribution period, and most of them are sold as local food through direct trade, group catering, and agricultural cooperatives within the region. Additionally, strawberry farm experiences in the Munmak, Heungeup, and Sinlim areas are gaining popularity as they provide both food and fun for children during the winter. This year, Wonju City has assisted strawberry-growing farmers with remote monitoring and environmental control through a pilot project for the dissemination of data-based facility horticulture monitoring and customized on-site technical support. This has enabled the farmers to respond more quickly to environmental changes within the facility and has also significantly reduced labor costs. The director of the Isangan Agricultural Technology Center said on the 9th, "Through the dissemination of stable strawberry production technology in response to abnormal climate, we will strengthen the competitiveness of Chiaksan strawberries and strive to create income for farmers." limbo@yna.co.kr
