An online seminar by the National Agricultural Advisory Service and Thracian University highlighted the necessity for pig farm workers to adhere to strict regulations to prevent the spread of African swine fever. These regulations include avoiding hunting, fishing, and collecting herbs and truffles, and not keeping pigs on private farms. Workers are also prohibited from Slaughtering and processing wild boar meat, visiting other pig farms or slaughterhouses, and participating in activities that involve contact with pigs from other farms. The seminar also stressed the importance of fencing and the need to prevent contact with wild predators and carnivores. The Ministry of Agriculture is set to publish a Plan to prevent the spread of African swine fever in Bulgaria for the 2021-2023 period, which builds on the activities implemented in 2020.
