The USDA expects the EU wheat harvest to decrease to 127.4 million tons due to extreme weather conditions like heavy rains in France and drought in the east, leading to a 27% drop in France's output. This, along with expected declines in global wheat production in countries such as Ukraine, Russia, and Great Britain, has resulted in the International Grains Council predicting a slight decrease in global wheat production for 2024/25. The EU is projected to produce 128.7 million tonnes of wheat in 2024-25, down from 133.1 million tonnes in the previous marketing year. Additionally, the FAO Cereal Price Index has been reduced due to a sustained decline in global export prices for all major cereals.
