World market overview for peaches and nectarines

This year, due to the favorable growing conditions, the peach and nectarine harvest will reach 25 million tons globally, because according to analysts, it will be 827,000 tons more than last year. Thanks to this, international trade will also increase significantly in this sector. Production is expected to rise by 500,000 tonnes to 17.5 million, as good productivity in the southern provinces far outweighs losses due to cold and snow in the northern provinces. Higher crop yields are expected to offset ongoing crop losses and deficits from shrinking cropland. However, lower yields encourage farmers to reduce their growing area or switch to more profitable fruits such as cherries.
