An 'auntie group' of surplus rural labor and poor households in Jiangxi Province, China, is actively involved in the water chestnut harvest from July to October. The daily harvest often exceeds 6,000 catties, which is then distributed in various provinces. The water chestnut planting base in Mian Village has the potential to produce 400,000 to 600,000 catties annually. The 'Auntie Group' members earn 80 yuan per day and can increase their income by over 7,000 yuan within three months. They also engage in cultivating food and are supported by large households in raising seedlings and planting.
