(Yanggu=Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Ji-woong = Gangwon Yanggu County announced on the 16th that it will conduct joint guidance and inspection of livestock manure in the second half of the year to prevent environmental pollution such as water pollution and bad odors, and to ensure that residents can enjoy a pleasant living environment.
This inspection will be conducted by the Environmental Protection Team of the county office, which has formed an inspection team to visit and inspect eight livestock manure discharge facilities and related business facilities by the 21st of next month.
The main inspection items include compliance and management of livestock manure and compost/liquid fertilizer processing obligations, facility installation and operation status, compliance with recycling facility and collection/transportation business registration, and the presence of unlicensed/unregistered facilities.
When necessary, inspections of livestock manure compost/liquid fertilizer composition and odor concentration measurements will also be conducted concurrently to enhance the effectiveness of the guidance and inspection.
The county plans to take immediate corrective action on site for minor violations found during the inspection, and in cases of major illegal activities, it will take strict measures such as prosecution, administrative penalties, and fines in accordance with relevant laws.
Environmental Director Cha Jong-sik said, "We will strive to eradicate illegal acts related to livestock manure through continuous and regular guidance and inspection, and to minimize odors and environmental pollution to provide a more pleasant environment for the residents."
