[Yangyang County Fisherman's Newspaper, Reporter Lee Woo-jung] Yangyang County is set to fully launch the octopus habitat and spawning ground creation project in 2025 to increase the stock of octopus, the representative income species for fishermen. This project is an artificial reef installation project aimed at ensuring stable octopus spawning and habitat, with the goal of protecting and increasing octopus resources by installing underwater structures specialized for reefs. This year, Yangyang County has selected the coastal area of Nam-ae 1-ri, Hyeonnam-myeon as the target area, and plans to invest a total of 200 million won to install 20 systematic artificial reefs. Through this, the county expects not only the recovery of octopus resources but also an improvement in fishery productivity. Furthermore, Yangyang County plans to continue its efforts in aquaculture seedlings.
