The article provides an overview of the 2023/2024 zucchini and cucumber export campaigns in Spain, with a particular focus on the role of Almería as a dominant producer of these vegetables. Almería has dedicated 8,384 hectares to zucchini cultivation, resulting in an estimated production of 425,000 tons and a 5% increase in marketing volume from the previous year, despite a 15% decrease in price. The province has been responsible for nearly 90% of Spain's zucchini exports, with Germany, France, and the Netherlands being the primary destinations. The cucumber campaign saw a 25% price drop and a 7% increase in volume, with Almería's cucumbers accounting for 90% of the total production. Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands are the main recipients of these exports. The article also touches on the growing competition from Morocco in the European and UK markets.
