In W23 in the onion landscape, the first batch of domestic winter onions will be available on the Moldovan market. Additionally, due to low demand and the arrival of imported goods easing "residual tension" from the market, wholesale prices for onions (imported, Azerbaijani) decreased by USD 0.11/kg on average from the end of May to the beginning of June. Meanwhile, in the Ukrainian market, onions from 2022 were priced at USD 1.37/kg at the beginning of June 2023, which was generally the highest price among the European nations. Since the Kherson region has accounted for the majority of Ukraine's commercial onion cultivation over the past ten years, this has led to the present price spike due to the temporary occupation of this area in 2022 that prevented onions from entering the Ukrainian market. However, onion prices in Ukraine will stabilize in a few months after the beginning of the new harvest due to an increase in the area sown for crops for borscht vegetables by 25–30%. In South Korea, early and late-maturing onion production is anticipated to rise by 4.5% YoY and 12.0% YoY in 2023 to 211 thousand mt and 1,05 million mt, respectively. The export of early-maturing onions, however, is anticipated to fall short of 2022 levels because of a sharp rise in divisions. Additionally, the wholesale price of onions will decrease 14% YoY to about USD 0.90/kg in June.

The New Zealand onion harvest was completed on schedule, and most seasonal exports were shipped. Despite a slight delay brought on by the poor weather, planting has begun for the new season. In 2023, export so far is at 103 thousand mt, slightly more than 91 thousand mt in 2022. On Monday, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) granted permits to 210 importers who stated their intention to bring in 0.281 million mt of onion. The wholesale price of onions in Dhaka, Bangladesh, decreased to USD 0.23-0.28/kg a day after the import was permitted. The retail prices fell slightly by USD 0.047/kg, reversing the previous month's skyrocketing trend in the domestic market. The wholesale price of onions in Dhaka further decreased by USD 0.031-0.035/kg on June 9, as imports from India began.
