The chili pepper global market increased from 15M MT (2008) to 18.5M MT (2018). It has an annual growth of 4.82% and around 1,040,000 tons are allotted for exports. Mexico displaced Spain as the top exporter in 2020. The development of agro-industrial technology increased production three folds in the last two years.

  • Exported 23.9% of the world’s total export volume. Displacing Spain as the top exporter of hot chili worldwide (22%) (2020).

  • The USA is basically the biggest and, in 2020, the only importer of Mexican Chili pepper.

  • Ironically, the biggest competitor in the US market are US producers and, more recently, South American exporters (Dominican Rep. Colombia)

  • The development of agro-industrial technology increased production 3 folds in the last 2 years.
