Production and Consumption
World production of green beans is more than 28 million MT (as of 2019). Green beans are grown all over the globe, as they can be cultivated in a wide range of environments.
Production is dominated by China where approximately 77% of the world’s green beans are grown.
Import and Export
World trade of green beans totaled 644,005 MT in 2020, with Morocco leading the way. China burst onto the scene as an exporter in 2020, exporting 83,780 MT, compared to the 5 year average before that of just over 2,000 MT.
France is the second-largest exporter of green beans, but exports only from July to October. The rest of the year they are an importer
