Exports of farmed Atlantic salmon have grown each year, increasing by 81.7% between 2012 and 2019. Pacific varieties are entirely controlled by frozen exports, growing by 46.4% from 2012 to 2019, likely due to the growing Pacific aquaculture production by Chile. Norway has been advocating an FTA with China in hopes to reduce the current 10 percent tariff to zero. This report addresses an overview of the global salmon landscape, including consumption, production, imports, and exports. Emphasis is on key global players including the US, Russia, and China.
