Global olive oil production has experienced significant fluctuations, reaching 3.37 million metric tons (mmt) in the 2020/21 crop year after a 15% YoY fall in the previous season. Spain is the dominant producer, contributing 36% of the global production, while Tunisia surpassed Italy and Greece as the second-largest producer with a 24% YoY increase. Despite traditional leaders maintaining their positions, new players like Algeria, Argentina, Chile, the United States, Australia, Egypt, and China are emerging in olive oil production.
