Noteworthy Products: In Italy, Barilla once again launched its limited edition heart-shaped pasta to celebrate Valentine’s day. This pasta was not just launched in Italy but across the world including countries such as the US, Canada, France, Australia and New Zealand. Consumers appreciate the special shape to celebrate a special occasion.

Industry News: Turkey has outlined ambitious plans to elevate its position in the global pasta market, aiming to surpass Italy and become the world's leading exporter. Currently, Turkey holds the second position behind Italy in terms of global pasta exports. Turkey has more than doubled its pasta exports over the past 10 years but still trail Italy’s exports by a substantial margin. Supporting this export growth is a substantial domestic production base. Turkey currently operates 25 pasta manufacturing facilities, which collectively boast an annual production capacity of 3 million metric tons (mmt), although actual annual output is around 2 mmt. Significant expansion is underway to bolster this capacity. An additional 0.3 mmt of capacity is expected to be added from existing plants by the close of 2025. Furthermore, looking ahead to 2026, six new production plants are scheduled to commence operations, which will further increase the total annual production capacity of Turkish pasta producers to an estimated 4 mmt. This planned expansion underscores Turkey's commitment to increasing both production and its share of the international pasta export market.
