On September 4, 22.1 tons of Thai coconuts were successfully imported for the first time through the Taizhou Port in Zhejiang. This marks the latest addition to the variety of imported fruits since the designated quarantine site for imported fruits at Taizhou Port's Damiao Port Area was officially approved on December 31, 2021.

Taizhou Puyue Supply Chain Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Foreign Transport and Cold Chain Logistics Co., Ltd., announced that the coconuts will be sold to fruit wholesale markets in the Yangtze River Delta region, including Shanghai and Jiaxing. The company strictly controls every link in the supply chain, implementing high-standard quality control from the picking of the fruits at their origin, through cold chain transportation, to customs clearance at the port.

In 2020, Damiao Port began the application and construction of the designated quarantine site for imported fruits. At the end of 2021, the Damiao Port Area's designated quarantine site for imported fruits was officially approved, becoming the only designated site for imported fruits in Taizhou. In March 2022, Damiao Port completed the administrative review procedures for adding general cargo loading and unloading functions to its port operating license, meeting the essential requirements for a cold storage fruit import port. In April of the same year, Damiao Port welcomed its first import of New Zealand kiwifruit, becoming the second port in China, after Shanghai, to receive bulk shipments of New Zealand kiwifruit. As of August 19 of this year, Taizhou Port's Damiao Port Area has cumulatively imported 21,000 tons of kiwifruit, apples, and other fruits.
