A large-scale operation is underway in Western Greece to control an outbreak of rinderpest among goats and sheep, involving over 2,500 livestock holdings. The operation, directed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, aims to prevent the spread of the disease, with 18,335 animals already culled and a ban on the movement and slaughter of sheep nationwide. The government also seeks additional EU financial support and promises fair compensation for affected breeders.
