90% of the black acacia is used in energy generation

According to the Economic Bulletin from Emater/RS-Ascar, released on Thursday (31), the cultivation of black acacia in the administrative region of Caxias do Sul continues with activities of preparing new areas, cultural treatments, pest control, and cutting. The phytosanitary conditions of the plantations are considered adequate, and prices have registered a slight increase in the period. With the drop in temperatures, producers in the region have intensified the cutting and marketing of the wood. According to Emater/RS-Ascar, approximately 60% of the cutting and stacking operations are outsourced, which directly impacts profitability, especially for small properties. The majority of the production is destined for energy generation, which absorbs about 90% of the raw material, while a smaller fraction is used as bracing in civil construction.
