Argentina's avocado imports experienced a significant increase in the first half of 2021, with a total of 8,195 tons valued at US $ 22 million, marking a 5% rise in volume and a 22% increase in value compared to the same period last year. The country's main suppliers included Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, with Mexico taking over as the leading supplier due to a 255% surge in exports, followed by Chile, Brazil, and Peru. The price of imported avocados also rose by 16%, with Chilean avocados being the most expensive and Mexican avocados the least expensive. The price per kilogram for Chilean, Mexican, and Peruvian avocados were US $ 4.81, US $ 1.90, and US $ 2.20, respectively.
