For the first time in the country, a technology for producing stable artificial seeds and indoor artificial seedlings for seaweed has been developed (photo). The National Institute of Fisheries Science recently announced that it has developed a technology for producing artificial seeds and indoor artificial seedlings based on the life cycle of seaweed. Seaweed, which represents our country's seaweed, has had a significant fluctuation in annual production due to its reliance on natural seedlings for cultivation methods. The annual production of seaweed was 3789 tons in 2022, 2744 tons in 2023, and 1748 tons in 2024. Recently, due to the impact of climate change, the areas where natural seedlings are possible have continuously decreased, leading to the development of technology for producing artificial seeds to ensure stable cultivation.
