Ukrainian scientist Nataliya Shevchuk has highlighted the unique characteristics of Ukrainian walnut trees, which have adapted to grow and bear fruit with minimal attention. Despite being seed-origin and varying in quality, these nuts are valued for their taste and environmental friendliness in the international market. Shevchuk believes that the southern and southwestern regions of Ukraine are promising for industrial cultivation. Over centuries, a unique walnut gene pool has formed in Ukraine, leading to the development of high-yield varieties with increased frost resistance and other positive traits, some of which have won awards at international exhibitions and symposia.
