Value-added pangasius exports from Vietnam experienced a 30% growth in the first seven months of 2024, reaching over 21 million USD. The exports of dried and other frozen pangasius products increased by 22% to nearly 200 million USD. The main pangasius product, frozen fillets, saw a 6% increase in export value, totaling 881 million USD. China and Hong Kong continue to be the largest consumers, followed by the US and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) market block, with Mexico being the leading consumer in the CPTPP bloc. Despite challenges, there is maintained growth in pangasius exports, driven by recovery in demand, improved product quality, and successful trade strategies.
