The agricultural city of Kilis in Turkey has seen a significant increase in the cultivation of black seed, with the cultivation area expanding 10 times over the past 5 years, covering more than 50,000 acres. This increase is attributed to the crop's low input costs and high profit potential. The city's Chamber of Agriculture expects a yield of 5,000 tons this year. The crop is bought by spice manufacturers and the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. The city's climate is also suitable for the production of aromatic substances in black cumin. Farmer Ömer Şahan, who planted the crop over 60 acres for the first time this year, anticipates high yields.
