Peru is set to boost its agro-exports, particularly grapes, by updating its phytosanitary protocol, allowing air exports to China and other markets. This development, highlighted by the Association of Exporters (ADEX) and following a delegation led by President Dina Boluarte Zegarra to China, is anticipated to elevate Peru's grape export position, currently as the second largest supplier to China, behind Australia. The update is expected to improve grape quality and pricing through faster delivery. Additionally, Peru is pursuing access for various other products to several markets, including Malaysia, New Zealand, and the United States, and is seeking to promote investment in the agricultural sector. ADEX President Julio Pérez Alván has called for a resolution to the strike at the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) and emphasized the importance of senasa in export processes and market access.
