From January to August 2020, Peru's agro-exports, which include traditional and non-traditional products, saw a slight decrease of 0.02% from the previous year, generating over US $ 4,158 million, as reported by the Association of Exporters (ADEX). This slight decline is attributed to a drop in traditional agricultural exports, which fell by 17% between January and August, despite a 1.6% increase in value-added exports. August emerged as the best month for agro-exports, with a 17% growth, largely driven by a 8% increase in traditional agricultural exports and an 18% rise in added-value exports. The United States and the Netherlands were the leading markets for these exports, with the United States showing a 24.2% increase in demand for value-added products in August. ADEX's president, Erik Fischer Llanos, is optimistic about the potential for agriculture and mining to drive the country's economic recovery.
