[Agricultural Fisheries and Livestock Newspaper=Reporter Park Yu-sin] October 15 is the 'World Rural Women's Day' designated by the United Nations (UN) in 1995. In line with this, our country designated October 15 as 'Women in Agriculture Day' in 2021 to boost the morale and pride of female farmers who play a pivotal role in agriculture and rural areas, and is celebrating and encouraging female farmers who have proudly established themselves as key players in agriculture, rural areas, and local communities across the nation. In the past, female farmers were mainly perceived as housewives and auxiliary workers in agricultural labor, but currently, they represent more than half of the primary workforce in agriculture and are a key labor force, as well as a driving force for the diversification and development of agriculture.
