Russia has restarted its supply of domestic fat and oil products to Morocco, including sunflower oil, rapeseed, and sunflower meal, which have gained over 5% of the total import market share in Morocco. In 2024, Russia's agricultural exports to Morocco tripled to about $280 million, led by wheat supplies, making Russia the leading wheat supplier, surpassing France. Morocco has also resumed purchases of Russian sunflower oil and continues to buy beet pulp, corn, legumes, and other agricultural products. The potential of Russian agricultural supplies to Morocco is estimated at $350 million, with grain, vegetable oils, and confectionery being the main categories. Morocco's wheat imports are expected to reach a record high of 7.5 million tons due to climate change-related droughts, and there is potential for increasing Russian exports of barley to Morocco, given the decline in domestic production.
