Coconut growers in Ben Tre, Vietnam are facing issues with reduced yield and quality of coconuts due to prolonged drought and disease, resulting in significant financial losses. The price for fresh and dried coconut has dropped significantly due to the large quantity of small and low-quality fruits. The province, which has 73,000 hectares of coconut gardens, produces over 63 million fruits per year. The situation has led to a decrease in the price of fresh coconut to below 20,000 VND / dozen and dried coconut to 30,000 VND / dozen, down by 100,000 VND / dozen and 50,000 VND / dozen respectively, compared to quality coconuts.
