[Reporter Lee Jang-hee, Korea Farmers' News] Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the Gyeonggi branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service conducted inspections on origin labeling in the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions, identifying 85 businesses in violation. Among the businesses caught, 31 were criminally charged for falsely labeling the origin of foreign livestock products and vegetables, while 54 were fined for not displaying the origin at all. The inspection took place from September 15 to September 22, targeting manufacturers and processors of agricultural and food products for gifts and offerings, and from September 23 to October 2, targeting distributors of agricultural and livestock products in major department stores, large discount stores, and traditional markets in major cities.
