Dr. Mohamed El-Mansi, head of the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine, announced a 20% reduction in intellectual property rights fees for strawberry varieties exported to Gulf countries, following directives from Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk to boost Egyptian agricultural exports. This comes as the fresh strawberry export season begins, with strawberries ranking eleventh in exports, contributing to over 7.1 million tons of agricultural exports valued at $4.1 billion from January to October 2024. A new GPS-based coding system has been introduced to track shipments and ensure good agricultural practices, alongside enhanced control procedures for citrus exports through advanced laboratory analyses.
