The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina has announced the first export of kiwis with Geographical Indication (GI) and Argentine Organic Certificate from the Ecco Argentina Cooperative to Spain. The shipment, containing over 900 tons of kiwi, was stored and packaged by 20 families from the Municipality of General Alvarado, with support from the national agricultural portfolio. The article also introduces the CoopAr program, aimed at boosting cooperative activity, and the recognition of Geographical Indications and Denominations of Origin as tools to differentiate and distinguish the quality of products related to their geographical origin, promoting rural development and granting legal protection to the name, product, and interested group. Additional export duty refunds are provided for products with GI, organic, or the 'ALIMENTOS ARGENTINOS' seal.
