In 2021, Peruvian agro-exports saw a significant growth of 15.8%, reaching over $9,000 million in sales, as reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri). This growth was primarily driven by the export of fruits such as blueberries, grapes, and avocados, which separately surpassed $1,000 million in exports. Blueberries became the top agro-export product, with a record export value of approximately $1,403 million. Grapes and avocados also saw substantial growth, with grape exports reaching $1,269 million and avocado exports $1,122 million. Other products like asparagus, coffee, mangoes, strawberry, and kión also experienced demand in the international market. The expansion of the avocado agricultural area by 30% in the past five years, especially in regions like Ayacucho and Huancavelica, played a key role in this growth.
