Between March 20 and November 20 of the current Iranian year, Iran experienced a 27% increase in agricultural exports in weight and a 13% increase in value compared to the previous year, totaling 5.45 million tons worth $3.84 billion. The main exports included unshelled and shelled pistachio, tomato and tomato paste, watermelon, and apple. Despite the economic contraction, the agriculture sector grew by 1.7%, contributing to a 0.2% expansion in GDP in the second quarter, despite a 3.5% decline in the first quarter. The overall non-oil foreign trade volume reached 97.7 million tons, valued at $44.6 billion, with Iraq and China being the primary export destinations.
