The Statistical Office of the European Union has reported that the cost of alcoholic beverages in the EU in 2020 ranged from the lowest in Hungary to the highest in Finland. The price of beer, wine, and soft drinks in Hungary was 73% of the EU average, while in Finland, it was 193% of the average. The data was calculated based on purchasing power parity in euros. Despite the low cost of alcohol in Hungary, the country's consumption levels were not necessarily related to the cost, as seen in the example of Croatia, Finland, and Hungary, which were in sixth place in terms of the amount spent on alcoholic beverages in the EU.
