Seventeen thousand eight hundred fingerlings of gamitana (Colossoma macropomum) have been delivered to fish farmers in the Amazonas region of Peru, as part of an initiative to bolster food security. The fish were transported from the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP) in Nuevo Seasmi, with the collaboration of the Cordillera de Colán National Sanctuary and the Municipality of Cajaruro. The institute is renowned for its work with native species such as gamitana, paco, and boquichico.
