The Canadian ambassador to Peru and Bolivia, Louis Marcotte, highlighted the 80-year anniversary of Canada-Peru bilateral relations and the benefits of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed 15 years ago, which has doubled bilateral trade and improved food security in both countries. He emphasized the importance of Peruvian agricultural products in Canada and discussed the potential of Peru adopting Canadian mining standards, as promoted by the Association of Prospectors and Developers of Canada (PDAC), to ensure sustainable and responsible mining exploration. Marcotte underscored the significance of transparency and best practices in the mining sector and mentioned that the PDAC serves as a platform for knowledge exchange to combat illegal mining and paperwork issues.
