Buryatia, a republic in Russia, has seen success in its two-year experiment with the cultivation of industrial crops, including hemp, rapeseed, and flax, as reported by Galsan Dareev, the region's Deputy Chairman and Minister of Agriculture and Food. The initiative, launched following the Russian government's permission for hemp cultivation in 2020, has seen significant increase in yield and profitability, with the harvest almost completed and prices of these oilseeds being twice or thrice the price of wheat. Although it is soon to declare the experiment a success, the early results are promising with notable harvests.
