In August 2024, China imported around 15,400 tons of pangasius from Vietnam, valued at nearly 197 million yuan, marking a 3.9% increase from the same period last year. The majority of the imports were open-back pangasius, with a notable increase of 15.9% from July. Despite the market recovery, wholesale pangasius prices have remained stable. Vietnam's pangasius exports in August reached US$191 million, a year-on-year increase of 12%, with the US market seeing a significant growth of 40% compared to the same period last year, importing over US$35 million of pangasius in August 2024. China continues to be the largest market for Vietnamese pangasius, but Vietnam's total exports to China experienced a slight 2% decrease by the end of August 2024.
