(Andong=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sun-hyung = On the 22nd, Andong City in Gyeongbuk announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training of Cambodia for the introduction of foreign seasonal workers.
The agreement includes ensuring transparency and fairness in the recruitment and selection of workers, setting standards for working conditions and cost burdens, and establishing measures to prevent unauthorized departures.
Based on this agreement, the city plans to fully introduce Cambodian seasonal workers starting next year, and through continuous cooperation and on-site inspections, aims to simultaneously stabilize the supply and demand of labor and protect the rights of workers.
Mayor Kwon Ki-chang of Andong City said, "The introduction of foreign seasonal workers, which was previously limited to Laos, has been expanded to Cambodia," and added, "We expect more systematic and transparent operation of seasonal workers."
