Farmers in the Vinnytsia region of Ukraine are considering removing around 3,000 hectares of apple trees due to low purchase prices leading to significant losses. Current, apples are bought for UAH 3 per kilogram including VAT, while the cost of selling apples for processing is 1.6 hryvnias per kilogram. Farmers believe the purchase price should be at least UAH 6 per kilogram to cover garden care and picking costs. However, the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration is encouraging farmers to wait while new processing enterprises are built, which will increase demand and prices for apples. The region also has investment projects for the production of fruit juices, purees, and apple chips, with the possibility of state budget compensation.
