The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) of Peru has started a S/. 4 million 713 thousand 613 fruit project in the Chincheros province of Apurímac, aiming to boost fruit tree production and enhance the skills of 642 women farmers. The project, executed under the Sierra Centro Sur Special Project (PESCS), will operate in 14 locations across five districts, focusing on improving cherimoya, plum, peach, and avocado crops across 360 hectares. Over the next 24 months, the project will prioritize the training of local leaders, enhancing productive capacities, and providing commercial management advice to beneficiaries, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the productive chain of these fruits and improving market access.
