Peru is looking to expand its agricultural success into aquaculture, with four distinct zones offering potential for prawns, scallops, trout, silverside, and new Amazonian species for export. To achieve this, the country plans to develop new species, invest in technology, and establish a legal framework that promotes sustainable ecosystems and traceability. An agreement between the Association of Exporters (ADEX) and the National Agency for Fisheries Health (Sanipes) aims to strengthen production chains, provide formal employment, and offer training in food safety and risk management. This is in line with the recent National Aquaculture Policy by 2030, which targets Peru's growth into becoming the fifth largest aquaculture producer in the region.
