Article: Recovery of cotton lint prices

Despite the conclusion of the harvest and the typical seasonal pressure of the period, cotton lint prices in Mato Grosso registered a recovery in October. According to information from the Imea bulletin, the average price of the lint reached R$ 947.43 per ton in the week ending October 23, an increase of 5.97% compared to the value observed at the end of August (R$ 894.04/t). This appreciation occurs in a context of increased demand for cotton oil, driven by the decision of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) that raised the mandatory biodiesel blend in diesel to 15%, in effect since August 1, 2025. The measure expanded industrial demand for oilseed raw materials, especially the oil extracted from cotton lint.
