The Aegean Exporters' Association reports a notable increase in aquaculture exports from October to the same period last year, with a 16% rise to 257,712 tons and an 18% increase in value, reaching $1.623 billion. Sea bass, sea bream, and Turkish salmon were the most exported fish, showing significant increases in both quantity and value. Russia, Italy, and the Netherlands experienced the highest growth in imports of Turkish aquaculture products, particularly Turkish salmon, which saw a 30% increase in demand. The price per unit for sea bream and Turkish salmon also increased, contributing to the overall value growth. The reduced sea bream production in Greece has led to higher demand and prices for Turkish aquaculture products, especially sea bream, explaining the observed increase in export values.
