The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) has seen success with its Aquaculture Improver Program (AIP), a initiative aimed at helping small-scale fish farmers meet certification criteria through provision of technical support, training, and financial and supply chain assistance. The program, which has seen its first certification with Indonesia-based PT. Koyo Segoro Endah’s shrimp farm, is particularly geared towards small-scale shrimp farmers in Southeast Asia and Latin America and is expected to expand to other species. The ASC also plans to partner with NGOs like the World Wildlife Fund and Conservation International to strengthen the program.
