Bulgaria: At the beginning of March, cucumbers are 29% cheaper on an annual basis, tomatoes by 18%

At the beginning of March this year their wholesale price is BGN 3.08, while in March 2023 they cost BGN 4.35, according to data from the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT), published on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture. There is also a trend of continued decline, since a week earlier cucumbers had a market price of BGN 3.30/kg. For tomatoes, the direction is also downward. At the beginning of March 2023, their wholesale price was BGN 3.96, and now it is BGN 3.25 (-17.9%). At the end of February this year, they cost BGN 3.55. The DKSBT does not indicate that there is a Bulgarian production of greenhouse vegetables, although certainly some greenhouse producers have taken the risk of heating the facilities in order to bring Bulgarian vegetables to the market in winter.
