The Australian Macadamia Society (AMS) has revised its 2025 macadamia production forecast downwards due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The revised estimate is now 55,960 tons with a moisture content of 3.5% and 60,000 tons with a moisture content of 10%, compared to the initial estimate of 56,890 tons and 61,000 tons respectively. The cyclone primarily affected macadamia growing areas in New South Wales, but Queensland, which contributes to 70% of the total production, was largely unaffected. The AMS believes that the expected reductions in New South Wales will be offset by the good production of new fruit trees in Bundaberg, Queensland. The next update on the Australian macadamia production forecast will be released in September.
