The 2021 avocado export campaign in Peru saw a 30% increase in shipments, reaching 537,460 tons and covering 38 international markets, with the Netherlands, Spain, and North America being the primary consumers. The campaign aimed at integrating more small producers into the agro-export chain, certifying 39,645 hectares in 17 regions and focusing on meeting sanitary and phytosanitary standards. The Hass variety, making up 94% of total exports, allowed Peruvian avocados to enter 66 markets globally, with La Libertad being the leading region in exports. The growth in demand for avocados and the synergy between SENASA and family agriculture are key to the continued expansion and profitability of the Peruvian avocado industry.
