During a technical assistance session, the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) transferred agricultural technologies on the breeding and health of guinea pigs to producers in the district of Huancapi, in the Ayacucho region. The transfer, led by the INIA Agricultural Experimental Station, aims to improve the quality of guinea pig meat, as well as to strengthen this value chain in the different commercial processes. This will increase the economic profitability of the producers. For this purpose, the technical session provided training in guinea pig breeding methods, high-value forage preparation, genetic improvement techniques for the animal, sanitary control (vaccination, deworming, etc.), implementation of barns with international standards, and good livestock practices, among other important aspects.
