BA: Summer corn surpasses 116 thousand hectares

According to AIBA, the area planted with corn in the western region of Bahia already totals 116 thousand hectares, boosted by the return of rains and favorable conditions for field management. This represents 96.7% of the estimated area for the 2025/26 crop. The advancement of sowing was made possible by the regularization of rains in November, which guaranteed ideal conditions for the operation in different microregions of the western region. The total completion of planting is expected in the coming days. The total estimated production for the summer corn is 1.346 million tons, with an average productivity of 187 bags per hectare. As for irrigated corn, with the area revised to 75 thousand hectares, it should yield 855 thousand tons, with an average of 190 bags/ha. The commercialization of the 2025/26 crop already reaches 38%.
